Defective products may be lurking about your house — and you may not even know about it.
Every year, there are thousands injured by consumer products that are defective. In many cases, the products have already been recalled and the unsuspecting victim was never aware of it. For this reason, our Queens injury attorneys are asking residents to take a peek at the latest product recalls from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
And make it a habit each month when you change the calendar. Awareness is one of your best defenses against one of these accidents. Unfortunately, you cannot count on the manufacturer to put your safety over its profits.
If you’re a parent it’s especially important for you to keep an eye on this list. Many times, these recalls pertain to children’s toys and come with some serious risks for injuries. Children cannot be expected to be aware of the latest recalls, meaning you’re the only defense they have when it comes to avoiding defective product injuries.
Golf and Transport Vehicles by Club Car:
There are nearly 1,000 of these golf cars and transport vehicles that have been recalled by Club Car LLC, of Augusta, Georgia because the fuel hose can separate from the fuel tank. This poses a serious fire hazard to users. There has already been one accident report submitted, but luckily no injuries. Various 2012 models fall under the recall. If you have the Carryall 232 Gas, the XRT 800 Gas XJ, the XRT 850 Gas JZ, the Villager 4 Gas or the DS Gas Golf Car, contact the company at (800) 227-0739 to set up a free inspection and a repair for the current hose.
Power Strips from Burlington Coat Factory:
Burlington Coat Factory is now recalling nearly 10,000 Lush Life power strips. The power strips come with undersized wiring, which poses risks for shock accidents. These wires don’t meet the fire resistance safety standard. They came in zebra, skull, rose and leopard prints. If you have one of these strips, you’re asked to take it back to the place of purchase for a store credit or a full refund.
Children’s Beach Chairs from Downeast Concepts:
There are more than 15,000 of these folding beach chairs that have been recalled by Downeast Concepts Inc. because they pose serious laceration hazards to users. On the back are sharp metal rivets that have not been properly covered. There has already been one accident report in which a 21-year-old was cut on her forehead and had to have stitches. If you have one of these items, please take it from your child and contact Downeast Concepts at (800) 343-2424 for a full refund.
Trampolines Recalled by Panline USA:
Nearly 10,000 of the Alex ® Model 786X Little Jumpers Trampolines are being recalled because the handlebar on the device can break, which creates serious fall hazards for children. If you have one of these items, please remove it from your child’s possession and contact the company by calling (800) 666-2539 for a full refund.
